so much of Mormonism is just being signed up for things without your permission. Things that require your time, energy, money, effort are just expected of you, and god forbid you don’t live up to that expectation. I’m constantly shamed into callings, activities, ministering, seminary, etc. Hell, even my goddamn baptism wasn’t something I consented to- I was eight and barely knew anything about religion, let alone given a choice on whether to be baptized or not. I’ll never forget my mom screaming at me while I sobbed hysterically because I turned down to be part of the young women’s presidency. I’m so sick of being signed up for shit without my consent.

I would like to remind everyone to live their truth. Be who you are and love yourself.

The church leaders are telling you to not, and to be someone you aren't. A father who loves his children wouldn't tell them he'll only accept them if they live a certain way.

I have a long, long way to go in terms of loving myself and being who I am. I have my hard days but none of those compare to hatred that the church gave to me. I was severely bullied in church, and no one did anything until I stopped attending. They only cared when I refused to go, my parents had to drag me kicking and screaming to youth activities, and church because the girls were so cruel to me.

The church does not care about you. Live your truth, you will find a loving and accepting community when you do so.
